Energiekontor has executed another installation of the RBE – Rotor Blade Extension in a wind farm in Portugal, in order to increase the production of the wind turbine. The installation took place in June 2015, see the pictures below for more details.
The installation of RBE was already carried out in both German and Portuguese wind farms, namely at the Penedo Ruivo’s Wind Farm, in Serra do Marão, in the county of Amarante (Portugal).
RBE is a product that increases the efficiency of wind turbines, which consists of an additional blade tip segment, fixed at the blade tip of the rotor. That system was certified by DEWI / OCC in 2012.
Two half shells overlap the existing rotor blade tip and are fixed with adhesive resin. A final polishing and painting of the blade and RBE protects the material. The original rotor blade remains unaffected.
The installation process is monitored throughout all the procedure, through serviced measuring equipment. Scales must be employed to carry out the stoichiometric mixtures and the environmental conditions controlled through thermo-hygrometers with data logger and anemometers.
To install the extension, the weight of all the parts to be added must be accurately controlled.
